Addressing the "new music" fans...

I'm behind you 1000% on the "new music" thing. It really gets to me too sometimes.

Like how people are all saying 311's new hit song "Love Song" is awesome and they're so talented for writing it. Newsflash, The Cure wrote that song, it's been almost 10 years it's been around.

Metallica will always have a place in my heart, I hate St. Anger, but I mean, one mistake doesn't ruin a lifetime of achievement. Kirk still destroys most people with a guitar, so people need to STFU.

I had this one girl come up to me and asked me who performs Stairway To Heaven, because she heard it on the radio and thought it was such an awesome new hit. Yes, that's right, she thought it was new. I didn't know if I should die laughing or sacrifice her poor, poor soul.

I'm into the new bands too, like the Beatles.

Kidding, kidding. I understand what you mean actually, and people can be really stupid.

I have a question, though. How new does a band really have to be to be called new? Within a few months of their first song is played on the air, or their album? Is a year old new?

In my opinion, you have to stop calling a band "brand new" 4-6 months after they drop their first single. But they can still be "relatively new" within the last 3 or 4 years, as I alluded to in my description of Thrice.
