They wouldn't do it if it didn't work. The commercialization of our culture completely relies on the majority being willing to buy into it--and they are. Is the fact that Red Lobster purloined a cultural artifact going to stop you from eating there?

The only time I've seen a song in a commercial that didn't bug me was when The Cranberries' "Dream" was used to promote visiting Ireland.
