Glad Tidings and Flights of Fancy

Jul 06, 2008 23:02

It's that time again - my weekly selection of illustrations to accompany our excellent set of comment threads, including the return of First Platoon Daycare, and a concept I've had in mind long before this rewatch came around.
More stuff will probably be added by the end of the week, as usual.

Edit, 7/7: Two more pictures added.

Edit, 9/7: Three ( Read more... )

Oh. My. GOD!

You are freaking brilliant! I love the First Platoon Daycare pic, but I am enchanted - appropriately, no? - with "Apparently, We're in a Dell." Harry's expression! Harry frolicking! With fairies and gnomes! The gnome clutching Nixon's boot! The looks on Dick's and Nix's faces!

The dell picture - not in its current form, but as a sketch - was possibly the first BoB fanart I ever produced. The image just lodged itself in my head and wouldn't go away. I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds it terribly amusing.

Sparkles and cookies! Oh, I'm honoured.
(God, I really want some cookies now. I had a couple of biscuits with my cup of tea just now, but it's not the same.)

Aw, the Daycare picture is way too cute, and Skip looks like he inhaled his chocolate rather than eating. Perco's a naughty little kid, going through the presents. Keep that up and his gift's going to turn into a lump of coal. Or some German arm's going fly up and steal his wristwatch (kind of like those Halloween candy bowls with the hand sticking out that grabs at you when you take some candy). *Snorts*

The second one deserves applaud and recognition and a Nobel Peace prize or something. Because Nixon's expression and Harry frolicking? Would totally stop all wars because everybody would be obsessed with the cuteness.

In a fairer (if more cracktastic) world, his gift was noted earlier and Harry was flown out to Berlin in 1935, whereupon his ability to convey universal concepts of peace, love and justice via interpretive dance immediately convinced Hitler of the error of his ways.

*Dies laughing* *Has to be revived* Now I have the image of Harry in a tutu in my brain. I blame you entirely.

But, yes, in a fairer universe Hitler would have watched his amazing gift, said 'screw it' and had gotten out of the war business, and made Germany into a huge dancing studio, with Harry, of course, as lead dance instructer.

I've got a post in my journal with links to everything I've done, but really, everything I've done is here in this community. Just click back through the posts. Before joining this comm I was just a lurker, so I don't have much to show for myself. (Though I'm doing my damnedest to make up for lost time.)

poor nix. This is not what he signed up for.
The day care pic makes is giving me some serious chocolate cravings. Skip is so adorable.
