[The camera flickers on just as a glass aquarium topples from its position on the shelf with a resounding crash. Water surges from the site of impact, drowning the day-old flower petals strewn across the floor.]

What manner of world tears family from family?

[... He's really gone off the deep end this time, hasn't he? An unpleasant feeling settles into Dominic's stomach, and it won't go away.

Something tells him he should be hanging up now, because no amount of information is likely to be worth talking to Vincent while he's like this, but... Dominic's just frozen.]

[He looks up. The pair of mismatched eyes seem far more mismatched than usual, and his smile seems razor sharp, yet crooked beyond repair.

Like a pair of broken scissors.]

Sir Dominic, I really am tired of seeing your face.

[Likely.

He's silent for a few moments, trying to think over this in a more calm manner, now that he's not quite as nervous. Vincent's clearly not in his right mind at the moment (if he ever really is). This can lead to either two things: One, that he's not tricky with his words as usual or two, that he ends up carrying out his threats.

Maybe it's time to take a risk?]

... Your brother's gone?

[He's put up with you each time, Vincent. It's only fair that you do the same, wouldn't you say?]

[He smiles. A hand comes to caress the dreamberry screen as though it were a small child's face. Adoringly. Worshipfully. Dangerously. He wants to break it.]

Aren't you clever, Sir Dominic. And you must be here to laugh at the spectacle.

That must be it. You, of all people, would find loss the funniest thing of all.

The real world tears family from family. Humanity, God, demons, fate.

[His eyes are...cold, to say the least. He's not one to talk on obsession with brothers but, dude.]

Then I suppose the word I'm looking for is 'wretched'.

Or should we say world? Ahaha, isn't this a lovely coincidence. Word, world.

They really are the same.

Sekai, kotoba. It's only english that carries that particular coincidence.

The world itself is not to blame--a world isn't sentient. It is the actions of others--and the passage of time, that destroy everything in their path.

Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair...

Ahaha, then I suppose it's unfortunate that I was born speaking that language.

Will you be leading a crusade, then? How touching. Against the ruler of time, surely you'll find what you were seeking.

What if I tell you that the ruler of time is but a little white rabbit? Ha, you can lead a crusade, but in the end, all that is precious to you, she'll take it all away.

... Yes, Master Vincent.

[Aside from knowing that she's going to have to clean this mess up, she's expecting the worst.]

[Just taking things out on other things. Watch those potted plants fly! And he's got a lot of them too -- he's been cultivating a collection for poison collecting purposes, but now they're being put to better use.]

[Vincents always been so calm and collected the times Rena's spoken with him, so seeing him in this kind of state is a bit unnerving.]

[Waaatch those crazy eyes spin. He smiles, and it's a cutting motion.]

Miss Rena. Tell me, are you here to watch a spectacle?

bigassmachete February 4 2010, 01:01:41 UTC
[Oh geeze, this isn't good. Bouts of insanity are nothing new to her, but that doesn't make it any easier to see.]

W-watch? N-no, that's not why--! I mean, Vincent seems so upset, Rena wants to know what happened.

Miss Rena must be really curious, then. Like a small cat. I so do like cats.

[Thanks for throwing all her suspicions out the window the window, Vincent. Because for all the worries and concerns she had about what everyone else was telling her before... the fact of the matter is that right now, Vincent is the one hurting. He lost his brother and goodness knows she knows what that's like. So all she has at the moment is nothing but the most genuine worry for Vincent.]

Vincent... Are you all right? Is there any way I can help?

I'm so sorry....

[for two reasons: 1. She didn't want Gil to leave either, and she's not sure what to do to help the pain of a brother leaving go away.
2. She's sorry for ever doubting him because clearly Vincent is such a kind soul to care for Gil so deeply.]

Are you capable of bringing my brother back, Miss Ada?

[She's not deterred any by that smile. Her way of rationalizing it is that Gil's disappearance really did affect Vincent, and if he needs to vent out some of his anger on her... she wouldn't blame him.]

I wish I could say I am, but...

[Let's have an attempt at optimism.]

But like you said, I'm sure he would come back!

[He considers waving her off, but that would take away an opportunity, wouldn't it?

And he's so upset now. Surely whatever he says he'll be entitled to it.]

Yes, I'm sure he will. After all, he is my brother, and I have nothing but faith in him.
