Dreamsnake

Found a review of Dreamsnake(by Vonda McIntyre) by Ursula LeGuin via sartorias (Sherwood Smith). I immediately wanted to reread Dreamsnake and went upstairs to see if I indeed had a copy, as I thought I did.

And I did! Bought in 1980, from my meager student income. I also remember reading the short story this was based on before, though I can't remember ( Read more... )

I might have known you would! I'm rereading it now, and it's still quietly brilliant. And as always when a perceptive person shines their light on it, I see new things to delight me. Not many 30-year old sff books can still dazzle me - apart from LeGuin's, of course...

I haven't read it, but I remember really liking The Moon and the Sun set at Versailles around Louis XIV. Maybe I should look into more of her books...

While I liked The Moon and the Sun, I think Dreamsnake and Snow Queen are much better and more powerful, certainly for that time.

I never heard of the story. Usually I avoid post apocalyptic themes, but I will try this one. My local library has it marked as in repair, so I reserved it.
