I have very little direct experience with either of them BUT about ten years ago a driver with Virgin Trains let me sneak into his cab at Poole station, go into the sidings, and then travel in the cab while he was running out of service to Bournemouth. So on that count I'm emotionally attached (plus they called their trains Voyagers at about the time I was wildly obsessed with Star Trek: Voyager...).

Hopefully Virgin didn't use the name because their passengers wouldn't know when - if ever - they would get home. :)
