I was trying for a different style. It's choppier, less coherent, more reminscient of Nek0-Sama's Yami Malik stories in the good old days of ff.net .

I might have taken it a bit too far. xD

I really liked this. The fragments worked well, and I liked the overall metaphor. I don't know why I'm fixated on it, but I'm especially taken by this line in particular:
- pock-marked, cratered, little lunar devotee- bearing the brunt of the heavens for the earth it protected
I think maybe it's the rhythm of the second half (dactyllic? anapestic? You can make it read either way, kinda). Sorry, I'm fixated on meter sometimes. >.>;

Truthfully, I think terse and efficient fics like this take more skill to write than the more grandiose and lengthy ones; anyone can ramble and get to their point eventually, but not everyone can distill an event into its most elemental form. It's more like a white dwarf than a red giant, to continue the theme. :) Thanks for posting this!
