One of things that made a lasting impression on me from my weekend Opencon was something said in the Poly Activism workshop. There's a lot of things you can do to help make poly more widely understood and accepted, but one of the easiest is simply to be visible.

When are you going to do a public blog about the similarities between open source software and ethical non monogamy?

My response to that is likely to be long and terribly earnest.

So instead I'll just say "If I find I enjoy playing with a piece of Open Source Software, I can quite legitimately let my friends have it too."
