Backness

Well, here I am again. I stopped blogging once the pressures of not studying for o-chem became too great. I'm refocusing this journal, though. That's right: Your worst fears have been realized: I have become a music blogger. (Is that double colonation legal? Sorry ... ) I guess that isn't a gigantic change so much as a natural progression. And I' ( Read more... )

Brett! I'm glad you're back, and lucky me I happen to like music. Most of the time I even respect your opinion on it. :-P

Hah. So, speaking of opinions ... do you have one on live recordings?

When do I not have an opinion?

As to your poll question I would most certainly prefer a live recording using the best performance of each part, as opposed to the best overall live performance with significant flaws. When I'm attending a live performance some flaws can be overlooked for the experience of being there in person but if I'm listening to a recording anyway then I want to hear something as close to perfection as possible. There are some circumstances where the best overall live performance, even with significant flaws might be better(if you were reviewing a particular performance or if you were looking for common flaws to be corrected for example) but for the most part I prefer the other.

Welcome back! I was actually thinking about you the other day, and how I still had an animated icon to make you, and how, if I did, maybe you'd come back to lj...

BTW, your O-Chem excuse is lame.

Oh, the icon. Yeah, I was just thinking about that, too.

It was supposed to be lame ;)

Once upon a time I read a blog and then I contemplated why it's called a blog and then I found a shiny quarter on the floor so I picked it up and realized it wasn't shiny after all it just looked shiny because it was reflecting the shininess of something else so I was looking for the something else that was shiny but instead I found a piece of paper and on that piece of paper was the drawing of a stick person and the stick person was asking for a piece of bread so I went to the refrigerator and got a piece of bread to give to the stick person but he rejected it so then I was sad and I went outside and stared at a spot in the road and that spot went on to be the greatest spot ever.

That was surreal. Sorry about the change ... might not be as interesting for all my readers. At least some will like it.

SQUEAL! L'Enfant et les Sortileges is an absolutely remarkable piece of music. Tis based off an old french cartoon, if memory serves me correctly. I could be wrong about that, but at any rate, it's FANTASTIC! You MUST add it to your collection! I recommend the recording with the lively cartoon characters on the front cover. I'm not familiar with the singers but they are magnificent. And the coloratura soprano will rock your face off!

Tchüss!

Not that it matters, all that much, but it is nice isn't it?

ps What do you think about that approach to your little "voice lessons" snafu?

Sounds all right. I e-mailed Kris, and he suggested I just try it out and noted that he probably wouldn't hurt me vocally.
