As to your poll question I would most certainly prefer a live recording using the best performance of each part, as opposed to the best overall live performance with significant flaws. When I'm attending a live performance some flaws can be overlooked for the experience of being there in person but if I'm listening to a recording anyway then I want to hear something as close to perfection as possible. There are some circumstances where the best overall live performance, even with significant flaws might be better(if you were reviewing a particular performance or if you were looking for common flaws to be corrected for example) but for the most part I prefer the other.
