When is it okay to start putting sunblock on a new tattoo?

i think as soon as you decide it's ready for sun! i keep my fresh ones out of the sun for 2 weeks and by then it's healed over and i've had no problem putting sunscreen on.

thank you! i got it done on saturday, but honestly, unlesss im in for some surprise sneak attack of peeling skin and nastiness, it's pretty much perfect. it didn't bleed, no oozing plasma, no soreness, the itchiness is over. skin looks normal, i've moved from A&D to lotion. i'm very suspicious...

If the itchy stage is over you should be fine! Just don't put it on too thickly
