Clarification

(lost power cord, so quickly...) Last post was about whether or not one ought to experiment in genre. But I've been thinking that we underestimate the general public. I agree. Sometimes I think the constraints on how to write a narrative are too tight. Some experiments don't pan out, but sometimes they do.

There's no question that experimentation should take place - always. But you have to expect, just like in science, that the vast majority of experiments will fail.
Ah, but man's reach should outpace his grasp, right?
