This why I love Die Fledermaus... for the sheer ridiculousness of the plot (all high points all the time without connective tissue) plus BAT COSTUMES! What?

LOL! I have yet to see Die Fledermaus but last month's opera was Siegfreid and that was four hours of GODS! and DRAGONS! and TROLLS WHO HATE THEMSELVES! and BEARS AS PETS! and MAGIC SWORDS! and HORNY DEITIES! and SLEEPY WARRIOR VIRGINS! and a whooole lotta Wagner. It was actually pretty good but, damn, was my butt numb afterwards...
