The left side of my brain is disappointed with my gullability

Okay, so I just waded through the story summaries for this year's spn_j2_bigbang, and then went to sign up for an art claim. I know, I know... after last year's debacle, I resolved never to participate in this challenge again, but I like drawing Sam Winchester, so... We'll see how this all shakes out on Sunday when the claims go live. (As an aside, I am blown ( Read more... )

Didn't you ask us to remind you not to sign up for that again? *g*

I would be laughing harder at you... but this post just caused me to join tentaclebigbang. Still, joining isn't the same as acutally writing, right? Riiiiiiiight.

How nice that the reader wanted to have a conversation with you about the story. Score! \o/

The picture links are broken but considering it's hockey related I probably wouldn't have understood them anyway.

I loved the ads, particularly the Jane Eyre one. I must find time to re-read it again soon.

That's really weird about the pictures. They are showing up fine for me, even when I reload the page. There shouldn't be a block from Getty Images because they're all watermarked and i.d. tagged... and folks wonder why designers hate Getty...

Yes, I am available for mocking re: spn_j2_bigbang - fire away ;)

It WAS nice talking about a story with a reader for a change. Damn, I miss that.

People actually put "art asks"??? that's pretty nervy IMO. I tried to think of things an artist might be interested int arting about, since I don't have dragons or anything dramatic like that.

Yeah, there were a few 'art asks'. I'm pretty sure it was a preemptive conversation with their potential artist, like "THIS is what I'm interested in seeing, not what you think you see in my story". I went through that last year and had a negative experience, so now anyone who's upfront with that immediately gets a pass from me, regardless of the interest garnered by the summary.

So long as the summary piques my interest, I don't care if images don't immediately come to mind. If the fic is a good read, I can find something to make for it. No dragons necessary ;)

This is VERY important, I've discovered from past experiences. Don't pick a summary based on art teasers or your id, necessarily. Pick 'em based on what sounds like an amazing story, well written. You don't want to wind up clawing through a story that just doesn't do it for you.

I've been really lucky, though, and have never picked a fussy, demanding author. I was kinda surprised with the number of very similar tropes that showed up. It's going to be a tough choice this year. Really tough!

It was A LOT of summaries to go through to whittle it down to 3 choices, but I'm confident that I'll be happy if I get any of my 3 choices this year *fingers crossed*.
