Oh, Songza, lemme 'esplain this to you:

If I click on an 80s keyboard compilation song list, and then you play In Your Room by Depeche Mode, I need to call bullshit. That song was released in 1993. I remember because I was there and a fan. And it's only because I'm still ever-so-slightly obsessed with it that I will let this slide.

mabye they are just thinking of Depeche Mode as an 80's genre band which is dangerous because they were around a LONG time and really span the decades.

these people just don't know they are dealing with experts do they?

Yes! EXPERTS! *nods authoritatively* They also played Duran Duran stuff from the 90s so it's probably more 'the spirit' of the 80s synth set than the actual flavour of it *eyeroll*.

90's Duran Duran??? *gasp* what are they doing, look at your choices people, do they think they can get away with that????

lol

I went to college in 89/90 so I have a clear mental shift of music from whether it was high school music or college music. So yeah, I would probably catch all that stuff too. I mean you can't just throw out "Ordinary World" and tell me it's "Rio". :P

Exactly.

My parents were music nerds and the 80s was their time (mostly new wave, punk, British invasion stuff), so that whole period is built into me like DNA. I was in high school 'til 1992, so alternative, grunge, and the crazy evolution of metal music became my backdrop for that time and my transition to university. Either way, you can't pull the wool over my eyes about those decades. And while stuff like "Come Undone" is brilliant, you can't tell me it's the same as "The Chauffeur" or "Save A Prayer".
