*And because I have been known to overnight a book from Amazon on *cough* "How to write Erotica", since I'm not a writer!

Awesome story btw....so busy I have only been able to sign on for a moment...I hope you can partake of the ebooks! There are many different sites.

Thanks for enabling my crushing obsession ;)

I've calmed down a bit and will wait for the eBay copy to show up. I have a hard enough time reading extensive fanfics online, let alone a novel - my eyes kinda go a bit buggy after a while. At least with an actual book in my hands I don't have to wear my glasses...

NAUGHTY ICON ALERT! jeez, Merc, yer killin' me...

What? *bats eyelashes* It's just Charlie giving Evey a little lower back massage. I couldn't quite crop out his tripod. It kinda blends in on the smaller pic.

Yer welcome. Now if you get weak, you know where to go for your fix.

I'm having a hard time catching up. Been to Monterrey, San Fran, back to Seattle and then to Tahoe to drop GK off with grandparents and pick him back up from grandparents...now he wants to go to the new Star Wars Clone movie! I haven't even unpacked or caught up yet!! *sigh* School starts up in two weeks so we must play while we can. (For me too! Scary!) And I left my language textbook in the hotel in SFO. Thank god they found it! You know how cheap textbooks are! I wish we flew to Toronto...

Jeez, woman! Your family flits about like travel was going out of style! I get exhausted just reading about it...

There's not much to tempt you to Toronto, but if you should ever visit I'd be happy to corrupt you ;) Whatever happened to the idea of the Gallery members meeting up in rl anyway?

I don't know why book store stories are so funny, except, I guess if you have worked in one. I have, and though I quit earlier this year, my friend still works there and I get to hear her occasional rants. Here's a good one about their manager, who I swear, does not deserve to be called a bookseller. This store buys books from customers, so in the last 6 months they have accumulated 113 copies of a popular/unpopular diet book. My friend says that the manager refuses to allow the book to be marked down because it is a 2008 copyright book. When shown the inventory of 113 copies he says they will have to DONATE them to charity rather than sell them at a sale price....because they are 2008. *rolls eyes* now, another stupid thought is to wait until it is 2009 and THEN mark them down...right....when they are even LESS popular than now. From the other side of the coin, my friend reminded me of the customer who comes in and says do you have "this" book? What book? "I dunno the title" Do you know the author? "no" What is the book ( ... )

Oh, I was actually REALLY GOOD at the "I don't know the author, the title or what it was about, but the cover was blue" selection identification game. I am well aware that book customers are just as stupid as the book store employees that I met today. I especially hated Xmas time when everyone came in a week before the 25th and absolutely had to have whatever was on the New York Times Bestseller List, regardless of whether it was good or not.

My other favorite customer question was "Where's the Fiction section?" "Ummm, you see the Health, History and Biography sections?" "Yeah..." "Well, everything else is fiction.". I usually got the evil stinkeye for that one...

OMG! We actually had a Fiction section, I loved the customers who came in and asked, "Where is your NONFICTION section?" LOL 75% of the store was non fiction, so it was really hard not to reply, "You are standing in the middle of it". The other funny customer adventure was when I would be standing in the middle of a section with a book cart wearing a t shirt with the store logo on it and a name tag and holding a price gun and pricing books and sticking them on the shelves, and a customer would come up to me and ask, "Do you work here?" God, that happened every damned day. Sometimes I would answer, "only when my boss is watching me" It was really hard to smile sweetly and say, "Yes, may I help you find something?" I wasn't surly or anything, but you can only get that so many times before you grit your teath when you talk...

Another one of those annoying customer questions was "Have you read this? Will I like it?"

*shakes head* That was back in the good ol' days when book store employees read....

yeah theres no way you'll ever get a copy of a stephanie meyer book from the library before 2010 :)

in other news if it was 20 books dead on the nose that were missing from the floor it means that they were just received and were sitting in a box in the back room. your bovine bookseller was probably too lazy to go and look in overstock for them. i used to hit people for being that lazy :D
