There is no escaping stupidity

'Kay, so recently somebody posted some thoughts on v_4_vendetta, which I had thought was a mostly dead forum. The poster had some *ahem* strong opinions, and elicited some strong ones in return. To this I gape stupidly and mouth, "Wha..."

I made it to polyamorist before I actually laughed aloud- although I must say this made my life from the words "vampires are."

The poster appears to be confused xenophobic libertarian, with extremely intolerant and ignorant views about Islam. I don't agree with anyone who is intolerant of religion but am more sympathetic to those who are equal-opportunity in their antagonism (I mean, I don't agree with but can at least understand the argument that religions have lead to horrors and are based on make-believe so they are all bad).

The commenter who thinks that randomness is the opposite of rationality is in extreme denial! I mean Newton was a fervent Christian and believed some utter nonsense (to the modern mind) but was certainly capable of rationality. Plus, the Universe is not rational; quantum mechanics is probabilistic, and not causal (in that narrow definition).

None of this got me riled. Anyone can be inflexible.

As you can imagine, I got both riled AND amused (because I'm nothing if not opinionated, mirthful and way too hopped up on caffeine).

I actually relish these sorts of threads, as it reminds me to remain 'open' in what I think or believe - which is difficult for me because of the aforementioned opinions, mirth and caffeine ;)
