Reg the Destructor

May 20, 2007 15:26

Came home this afternoon after a pleasant brunch with reynardin and minouette to find a 300 pound repairman exposing his butt crack to my Jack Russell Terrier while trying to fix the doorbell that hasn't worked in 4 years. *shivers at the memory*

The good news is that Reg (the handyman who works Sundays of holiday weekends!) fixed our doorbell *YAY!* and the ( Read more... )

Oh! Goodness.

Well, I think Orbit's pretty clever and would be safe in the company of the gollum.

I can top your aliens-and-white-lether-handbags. I dreamt of ....***shiver*** Celine Dion. SCARY SCARY SHIT. She was singing on Bloor St.

That's so GREAT you have a handrailing! I would be so sad if you or Scott fell to your death down the steep steep stairs. But, pretty crappy of Reg to damage and not fix the bookcase.

Kudos to Scott for being responsible and trying to cover the wage gap, but perhaps this is premature? I mean, you haven't being working for SadSackHarold (now, after brunch, I feel sorry for the bastard, so I can't call him IdiotHarold anymore) for that long. And DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP! For heaven's sake. You are gainfully employed, responsible adult. Your husband is allowed to be there for you, without you feeling bad about it. It's not like you're living off a trust fund from Mommy&Daddy.

Celine Dion is an alien, didn't you know? blythechild May 20 2007, 23:21:44 UTC
I wasn't worried about the railing, but I WAS concerned for everyone who came to visit and didn't know that it was *cough* just for show. And just think: now y'all can buzz to let us know that you're here too! Maybe we could send Reg to 1254 and get him to magic up a buzzer for R. and F.

Scott's a good guy and he's trying to make me feel better. I don't want him to give up a job he loves b/c it doesn't pay well: sanity is more important. He had so many years of soul-sucking jobs... I just want my monkey to be happy!

DAMN MOMMY AND DADDY! WHERE'S MY TRUST FUND, BEE-ATCHES?!

Ok, well I would be sad if any of say me or our friends plunged to our deaths on your stairs with the fake railing. If R. & F. don't get Reg to fix their buzzer I'm gonna break in and install one myself. I swear.

Yeah, it would be sad if the monkey didn't get paid to play no more.

My parents seem particularly delinquent in the trust fund category too. Like when I was informed they pay for high school but had $0 for university and I was on my own. That was just fabulous.

I'm quite sure you're right. Quebec my ass; that woman is from another planet.

I think that you shouldn't wait - go over to 1254 at yer earliest convenience and make 'em a doorbell.

Of course no one pays for fan fiction -- that's the point LOL. I know a lot of RL writers who dabble in FF waters. You get to play with ideas and receive immediate feedback on them. You get to practice your craft and let your hair down. When I get blocked in my RL writing I come to the Gallery to play. It inevitably helps me straight past writer's block ( ... )

Sorry -- this appears to be my days for ranting!

As to the poverty versus happiness issue that is a debate as old as time. At least in the old days artists had patrons to put a roof over their head while they painted. If your monkey boy is really happy in his work that means a lot. A happy monkey is so much easier to live with and when the domestic scene is happier that opens the mental space to be creative. The eternal struggle. I wish you deep and peaceful sleep.

yep, I get that. minouette's comment was a subtle attempt(?) to light a fire under my ass to start writing my own stuff. The pre-established character/environment thing kinda irks me: I always feel like I'm cheating a bit b/c a lot of what you write is dependant on someone else's brilliance. Don't get me wrong - I love writing V stuff! But I have stories of my own too, and I think that it's time for them to have their moment.

thanks for the rant, err... comment ;)
