You are so right on. For me, Christmas is the difficult holiday and Thanksgiving is where I relax and enjoy! Happy Holidays - I'm spending them in South Africa, where it's summer, and Christmas is a beach-and-barbecue holiday. Makes a nice change :)

Christmas used to be a lot easier before all my siblings and I grew up and our parents got divorced and life got all grownup and stuff.

South Africa sounds like a great place to be! :D

I completely agree with this and my family does this every year as well. The expectations are silly and we just need to enjoy ourselves for what its worth.

Growing up and divorce and time apart and life and Hallmark movies all meld to make Xmas a day full of letdowns before the 21st of the month has passed. I take the day as it comes anymore. Sometimes, it is tempting to sit in the corner and swill scotch and pout a bit...but that never helps anyone.

Except the Scotch makers....

Yes. Over thinking it all can drive a person crazy.

Swilling Scotch alone.... not so much fun. But swilling Scotch with friends and laughing over the absurdities of life can be great.

Swilling Scotch along can be fun, if you're in teh corner plotting revenge or simply feeling liquidly superior to others in the moment. The catch is the bill has to be paid the following day with an imported hangover. Which hurt as much as domestic hangovers....

Merry Christmas to you and yours, my friend. :-)
