The girl is brave, that's for sure, but not always all that bright. Still, it would be hard to pass up the opportunity... maybe she'll get lucky, or help. Nice continuation.

Heh. Yeah, she does have a tendency to naively leap forward in most of what she does. :)

Hehe. Thanks! I'm not fond of spiders in real life, but I could be friends with this one.

This was a wonderful story, as always, but I particularly liked this part.

"Bupkis sat up, the horns on his head sprouting into green leaves. One horn even had a small blooming flower on it."

Well done!

This is awesome - raise the stakes, eh? I love that this is another traditional moment - the good deed that creates havoc and risk, that you've written your own take on.

Questions for later - how does Fay know what to look for in the potions? Why doesn't the tether to the tree kick in? What is Granny weaving and why (I can see it, but I don't know what it is)

Love the detail of Granny remembering the babies swaddled to her back - makes her so human and real.

I can't wait to find out what happens with the boy who has her name - great set-up of something to come!

PS - love concrit over at my place if you have time.

Indeed! I needed the stakes raised to keep my interest as well as the readers. Keeping all the threads straight is going to be especially interesting from here on out, I'm sure.
