The sun hung low, nearly kissing the horizon. Shadows stretched out long and skinny across the dirt road and the surrounding green fields. Even in the growing dusk, the air was hot and humid. Fay marched along, striking out her bare feet with playful heel-to-toe purpose and swinging her shoes by their laces ( Read more... )

Thank you. It was a bitter-sweet story to write. And Fay definitely has a lot of journeying to do and many adventures to have.

I love Esther! I want to know more about her, which is a mark of good writing, in my book. Great job!

I love Esther, too. She's kind of a sad character thought, being a ghost. I may have to inquire after her life a bit more and see if she'll tell me more of her story.

I'm so happy you and Fay are back and I can't wait for more!

Her character is so very intriguing and I find myself wanting to know more about her past and of course, find out more about her adventures. So far she is very ambiguous and I find her unbelievably fascinating. YOu have created a seriously amazing character!

Your dialogue is wonderful (I suck at dialogue so bad, nobody ever talks in my writing :-P) and your imagery beautifully vivid. I especially loved the part about her untied shoelaces and how that affected her walk.

Thank you so much for this :-)
