Sorry I've been so unresponsive lately.  I really appreciate the 'happy birthdays' earlier this week and I feel bad for not responding.  However, starting Monday, Kate and I have been in a state of intense (seriously) housework.  We've been pulling 14-16 hour days for the past 6 days and I haven't had the energy to do anything else

Tearing up carpet is kind of like picking at scabs. It's really gross, you can't stop, and after you're done getting rid of the scab/carpet you resolve to try to avoid having such things at all in the future.
