Film, books, and the ever lurking computer games

Yay-ness.  We just went and saw "The Golden Compass".  I'm feeling tired and sort of flaky, so I won't really review it.  Mostly, I enjoyed it and felt that they made excellent choices about who to cast.  Even the newbie playing Lyra was really very good.  Really, my only substantial complaint would be that they didn't give enough time to character

Thom, Lyssa, Richard, Jenni, and I went to see it on Friday night as well. I agree that it was extremely well cast and the visuals were stunning. It was a shame that they rushed through it the way that they did, and then didn't even have the guts to finish it where the book ends. Instead they had to chop off the ending so that you could leave the theatre with a good feeling, rather than the heart wrenching truth that it's meant to end with.

But oh well, great movie.
