The doorway - a column

I think I'm getting old. In fact I'm sure I'm getting old. Being realistic, I knew it would come, it always does, but I didn't expect it quite yet, and I certainly hadn't prepared for some of the things that come with it. The creaks in the morning I can handle, the aches at the end of a tiring day I can put up with. I can even accept walking into a ( Read more... )

I don't often go to shops with automatic doors but that would annoy me as well. I realise the older I get the more easily I'm annoyed by ... stuff ... sometimes even minor stuff.

I think the thing that gets to me about myself as I get older is annoyance at the minor stuff. It's strange, the big stuff I seem to be able to handle more easily, but the annoying little things, things that really don't matter, they get very annoying, and I get annoyed that I'm annoyed!

I never wanted to turn into a grumpy old man, but I think that's what I'm going to become. I just hope I can hold it off for a while yet! :)

Oh, Paul, I don't think there's anything wrong with you. There are always tiny issues which can annoy. For example, I can never understand in the underground why people can't keep the right sight of the passages? Why can't they move down the escalator when I am in a hurry and just stand still when I don't want to move and give them a way? Why should they squeeze in the public transport - don't they respect themselves? When I want to go out of the shop, people, who step in, irritate me. Surprisingly, when i want to come in, it works vice versa. And it's who I am as long as I can remember - even when I was 15 or 20. So I believe, being a little bit intolerate is fine )

hello, old friend,, I've missed reading your posts, and I've missed actually "writing", not just having a "comment" posted somewhere.

We're all finding some intolerances because yes, we [unfortunately[ ARE all getting older..... I saw one particular saying that i can relate to, about getting road rage when walking. I think it affects us all to some extent.

So, grumpy or not, lets keep on doing what we do best, and live and write about what we find interesting in our own little parts of the world [and I usually avoid shopping centres etc like the plague... see above saying regarding road rage. Doing a supermarket 'run' is sheer hell!]
