If it's Saturday, it must be Pavlovsky Park

I was settling into my new surroundings by Saturday. Julia collected me from the hotel early and we went to meet up with Kate. For the first time I experienced the Saint Petersburg metro. I was stunned by the scale of it, the long tunnels with escalators going down deep underground, the splendour of the stations with their marble, chandaliers and ( Read more... )

Thanks. A lot of people were doing it. Julia asked me what they would be called in English and I didn't have a clue, I'd never seen it done before and still don't know what they would be called. :))

Funnily enough, a wreath was the best I could come up with too! :)) Didn't think of a crown! :))

It was really wierd stepping into a northern European autumn from a southern late-summer. In the few days since I've been back it seems to be catching up around here but when I left it was still all green - if you see what i mean. Autumn colours are so heart-warming and I loved the Russian parks and gardens with their autumn colours. :)))

The leaves up here have been turning for a few weeks now, I love autumn colours...:)

That park looks fabulous, just my sort of place!

The park was great, except that there were a lot of people there. It's the sort of place that I seek out and love to explore, but on my own when there's no-one else around. Having said that, I had great company and wouldn't have wanted it any other way! :)))

Those are gorgeous! Did you make yourself a hat? ;)
Can't wait to see more!

Thanks :))
No, I didn't make a hat. The best excuse I have is that I wouldn't have had the first idea how to go about it! :))

Hopefully, I'll be able to post more pics later today (or at least, today here!) :))

Hehe. Well next time you go to visit, you should look into taking a leaf-hat-making lesson. Or at least workshop. ;)

Thank you, dear. I guessed that was the answer, but you beat me to it!
Are you happy with the way my photos have turned out so far. I think they could have been better, and would have been if I had brought my 'big' camera, but I think it was wise not to risk it.

It was a great day and a real experience. It's funny, I don't use public transport much these days, and to suddenly be thrust into a world totally dominated by it meant that I had to get my head around some new ideas very quickly. I think that the crammed Russian train experience is one that everyone should have at some point! :))

The park was great and after a few days in the city it was great to get out into a forest for a few hours. And, of course, I had the best company in the world! :))
