Ironically, it’s Cam who gets into trouble, where by ‘trouble’ John means a loud argument in the street which culminates in someone shoving Cam into a nearby wall and scraping up the side of his face

I knew I could count on you for more John/Cam goodness! I like all of the history hinted at here--the long friendship that leads Cam to seek sanctuary in John's apartment after he's attacked. What I can't figure out from this is whether John already suspected Cam's preferences. (I'm now playing out Cam's reaction to John's revelation in my head and having all sorts of fun with it.)

John was... pretty sure, but not that sure. Not sure enough to know if it was okay to say something or not - I imagine them both being very young in this, so the whole not-straight-in-the-Air-Force thing is still new and a bit scary for them.

Just re-reading and oh, I can't believe I haven't commented before. So heartbreaking, that it happens to Cam and that it happens at all in real life. But I love John taking care of Cam, not something we see often in fic, but I love how soft and protective John is, the arm around Cam's shoulder, their heads close together. So sweet. *hugs them both*

I think John's already pretty deeply in love with Cam at this point, even if he probably wouldn't admit it even to himself, so, yeah, very protective.
