movie review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Couldn't agree more, on pretty much every angle (although I maintain that while Gary Oldman is spectacular, he just doesn't strike me as hot enough to play Siruis-- it's superficial, but on some level, so is the character!). I LOVE him in the books, though, he's my favorite. I also got all bent out of shape when they had Bellatrix say "Avada Kedavra" in the end, which she didn't! At all! In the book! Ahem. Ahemhem. Not that I was holding out hope for Sirius coming back or anything.

Yeah, Bellatrix saying "Avada Kedavra" bugged me too, but I guess since they decided to cut out Harry's disbelief and any real discussion of the archway, they wanted to make it clear that he was dead. But his death didn't seem quite heartbreaking enough without Harry calling for him to come back through the veil.

One other unfortunate thing i forgot to mention about the writing/directing was that they really glossed over Umbridge's whole bigotry toward part-humans. I guess they thought she was evil enough without it, but still...
