Pokeystar is my New Hero(ine)!

Aug 25, 2008 19:07

I know I was quiet over the weekend. I was busy with RL stuff, this is true, and I did go out more than usual (birthday party for my dad, Girls' Night Out, went to see Tropic Thunder), but part of the reason is that I am THISCLOSE to finishing so many of the projects on my list, and yet I can't quite seem to make it happen. It's beyond ( Read more... )

Scoffy, you know that you never fail to put a smile on my face, don't you? It's true! :D ~hugs~

Pokey rocks, and so do you! Massive thanks to both of you for chasing away my blues.

It's the Severus Snape Rehabilitation Foundation badge! From my story!

*loves Pokey*

And, of course, loves you too. And I'm sorry about your funk and glad you're feeling better.

Pokey is the queen of squee-inducing.

Yes! Oh, yes! Shoot, how did I forget to put that in the entry? That's one of the coolest things about the cup. I've edited it now to pay tribute to the story, which you know I love.

Love you too, dear Buzzy, and Pokey, too. Thanks to both of you for helping lighten my mood.

Presents really are incredibly cheering! They turned a really blue, frustrating time into a great day. Pokey's wonderful, and I'm so grateful to her.

If you like getting snail mail, PM me your address, and I'll send you something! :-) It's the least I can do for your thoughtfulness.

A most impressive pencil cup. I am impressed! And green with envy...

Seriously, that was totally sweet of Pokey. And I'm glad you're feeling better.

Now I have to go find a_bees_buzz's story.

It's right here: Snapewatch. It's a wonderful story, and I can't believe I forgot to mention the insignia on the cup! I'll fix that now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the story very much.

Pokey is so incredibly sweet and thoughtful! She put together such a wonderful package; I think it's made my month. :-) It really has helped me to feel better!

What a delightful woman and gift package! Damn, you cleaned up!

*sends good vibes for finishing frustrating project*

It is good to hear, tho', that the Exchange fic is going well. I started mine today, and before long I was going "wooooah - wait, isn't this supposed to be a one-shot?!"

*headdesk*

Yay productivity! *glomps*

I did, didn't I? I couldn't believe my luck when I opened the box! Pokey is an uncommonly thoughtful and generous person.

Thank you for the good vibes! I need all the help I can get. ~glomps~

Okay, I'm squeeing again at the thought of a long fic from you! I'm having similar issues. It just figures that the year they're asking for one-shots, I'm tending to the long and multi-chaptered...

OK, they say you can go up to 3-5 chapters. *nods furiously* I am sticking to that! (3 should be plenty...)

Seriously, though. Upon first receiving my prompts, I tilted my head and went "ok, I can do this," but lightning struck today and boy am I excited! I will, however, be going through another "I suck" phase soon, I can tell you that. (no need for pick me up comments, it happens) What is it about challenges that brings out all our insecurities? (Allow me to project my own pending "mehness" onto you, as well. Kidding. Kidding.)

3-5 chapters should do it... I hope. I'll try!

I'm so glad to hear that you had that burst of inspiration! I know all about the "I suck" phases, too, because I've just been going through an extended one. :-P It does happen--but you know, I think it's a good sign, because if we never question our writing or the quality of it, how can we ever improve? I think it helps improve stories, as long as we don't let it take over.

Challenges can bring out insecurities. There's the pressure of the deadline, and then of trying to please one's recipient, which I take very seriously. I think there's also pressure in the knowledge of what a big stage the Exchange is. There are so many people watching and reviewing, and we want to turn in a story that lives up to the expectations of that big audience. It was partially because I was a newbie author last year, but honestly, when The French Connection posted last year, my heart was in my throat. I was very nervous about how it would be received ( ... )
