The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly discussed the recent interest in reviving the beloved WW in light of the huge success of The Avengers. There's been talk of a television series and a movie, but nothing definitive. And the article stayed away, like way away, from her Amazon (read: lesbian) background -- no mention at all.

Aw! ~blushes~ I have to admit, I didn't look at the choices before taking the quiz, so I was surprised by the result. And then I laughed a lot. *g*

That is very interesting information to hear, in light of our conversation last week! I'd love to see renewed interest in the character. I wish I could say that I'm surprised that the article entirely ignored the question of the Amazon background and lesbian subtext, but... well. I'm not. I'd be massively impressed to see a director or creative mind who could handle that in a sensitive way, but I'm not holding my breath.

My little Maw has only seen drawings of Wonder Woman, but adores her and wants us to be Wonder Woman and her mommy together. I will have to consult with you if this develops further. :-)

Somehow, I am utterly unsurprised that the Maw admires Wonder Woman and would like to be her. I happen to think the two of you would make a great (and very fitting) pair of Wonder Women together.

Looking back, I think one of the reasons I admired Wonder Woman was her strength and sense of style... but I also liked the fact that she had really cool and unique gadgets, like the Lasso of Truth. She wasn't just going to beat up the bad guys; she was going to make them tell the TRUTH. My Lasso of Truth was fashioned out of winter scarves that I'd knotted together, and I used to use it to force my giraffe clothes rack and stuffed animals to confess their misdeeds. ;-)
