My ghost overy is acting up this morning. I wonder if I can take pain killers and have them work on something that no longer exists. Probably not. Bleh.

This decided I had a dirty face at 4:30 am this morning. I would roll over from one side to the other, attempting to bury my face in my armpit and all the while taking care to remain on my ( Read more... )

God damn is Sadie adorable! Heehee!

You only have one ovary? I assume it's not prying if I ask why since you posted about it here?

Not prying at all, here is some gory details, but the short of it is that I had a cystic ovary (Righty) that I had removed a few days short of a year ago after it grew to the size of a softball. So now I get ghost organ pain where it used to be. Incidentially, the left one is fine, I can still have kids as far as I know, but I have to take birth control pretty much as long as I have the other ovary so it doesn't decide to grow as well.

And Sadie is the cute, even at 4:30 am when she's keeping me from sleeping. She's getting big!

How did you know you had a cystic ovary? Were you in pain?

I printed out that picture of Sadie for my cubicle, too. Not my kitten, but what does that matter? Who doesn't need a kitten in their cubby? :)

Oh, it was a downright comical ordeal, with diagnoses ranging from:
scoliosis pain (I do have this, but it's mild)
pregnancy (I was even having sex at the time the doc thought this!)
arthritus (I even took Vioxx)
unknown infection of some sort
appendicitus
no clue, here's some hydrocodone, come back if it gets worse!

It finally took me collapsing on the floor in utter pain in front of Dylan and Kat, then being unable to get out of bed for a day, then Dylan helping me get to the student doc at UNT who would not let me drive to the emergency room after they decided I had appendicitus and it just might burst in the 5 minutes it'd take me to the emergency room, and finally they discovered the ovary was huge after I had an MRI to see if it was indeed my appendix (which it wasn't).

As for the pain, until I collapsed on the floor, it was never that bad, more like something was jammed in my hip bone near my spine, kinda. Mostly it just caused insomnia and sometimes made sitting or standing for long periods of time uncomfortable. The ghost ( ... )

well if you go on the whole mind over matter "sugar pills" theory then taking some pain killers should work. I'm all about if it works when question it so... I say if you believe it will help then it will!
