All the assvice I could give is probably in this: http://jenrose.dreamwidth.org/622641.html

The TL: DR version of that?

Think outside the box. Don't be afraid to leap blind sometimes. If it's not working, do something else, look for other options. It's okay to fail at one thing, because sometimes that's not what you're supposed to be succeeding at. And sometimes you just have to trust that letting go of the way you think it is supposed to be is the right thing to do.

Getting evicted from someplace is not the worst thing that can happen. Failing to reach a goal a job is not the worst thing that can happen. You have a lot of people who care about you, and it's okay to ask for and receive help. Failing at something does not make you a failure, it makes you human.

Thank you *very* much for the timely perspective adjustment and sanity check. This really helped me get in tune today.

My short term problems are addressed thanks to some very generous and dear friends. They are giving one of three strong possibilities for mid - to long term solutions.

I will spend the evening packing up books and mentally preparing for a shift back north. I made no formal announcement at work, but gave my lead a heads up that I'm likely to be gone soon.

My deep thanks to friends offering sanity breaks, advice, perspective adjustments, and offers of help. I will still need move assistance soon, but I'm not absolutely certain when. I have a lot of messages to answer.

Stay tuned.

Sorry that the Portland gig hasn't worked out. Definitely think you're right to cut your losses and get out though. Remember, insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results. Sounds like this job did a bait-and-switch on you. I had that happen to me once; it sucked, and I got out after six weeks and never looked back.

I do have lots of contacts in Portland. If you need a place to sleep or to store stuff or whatever, let me know. I can probably put you in touch with some folks.

Also, Public Storage usually has a $1 special for first-month rent, any size unit. That would give you a relatively inexpensive place to put Stuff that's too big to fit into your car, until you could make arrangements at a less-hectic time to retrieve it.

Please keep us posted, okay?
