Lots of people end up cranky sunday night of a convention. S'ok. Most people understand. It is good if you can go 'gee, I'm overreacting a bit' and reign it in or haul yourself off to bed, but... yeah.
I believe one of the official lessons from the weekend definitely was 'American Pie - more difficult to sing/play than you think it is. Please rehearse before attempting.'
I think I can walk my way through the chords as I sit here and type this, but then I'm not on the spot, getting ready to accompany someone on a piece I've never played before, much less practiced.
See if I ever compliment your repertoire again. ;D
You're right about taking yourself out of your comfort zone. I'll do things during the open filks and jams that I usually wouldn't do anywhere else. Finger picking comes to mind -- I'm just not that good at it. I hear practice helps, but I'm still trying to get the clawhammer stuff to come out nice and clean.
It was fantastic to see you, and eating brunch with you at the table was fabulous indeed.
(It is Jovanie, by the way. :) )
I'm looking forward to whenever we can have you at Cerulia next for another concert. As you may have seen, we have a spoken word show tonight, featuring artist Koe Sozuteki. If you're free, we'd love to see you. Details are at http://housecerulia.livejournal.com/12346.html.
Thanks! And has anyone mentioned that wonderful hat. ;) It was great seeing you all weekend, but yeah, brunch was tres cool.
I knew about the art and spoken word show tonight. I wish that I could make it. Unfortunately, I am busy. :( I am keeping watch for events that I can make, and of course I would be delighted to perform again.
My fondest memories of the weekend include getting my private concerts from you and Alec and having you play with me on my little Spanish piece at the open filk. That was the first time it was really performed in a public venue. I played it with Kathy Mar at OVFF in a small room at oh-dark-30 in front of maybey 6 or 7 people last October, but playing it was you was the first time in front of a large crowd of god knows how many.
I was nervous as hell, but you were calm, self-assured and confident and it made me believe I could pull it off with style. Which apparently I did, since there was rather thunderous applause afterward...

Ah, well. Clearly we shall have to hold other events when you can attend. :)
