Kingdom Hearts II: The Verdict

First off, regarding a discrepancy I noticed in Mickey Mouse's entry in Jiminy's Journal, I have only this to say:

Mickey's first film was Plane Crazy, NOT Steamboat Willie! Same goes for Minnie! Steamboat Willie was the THIRD Mickey short, not the first, and is only so famous because it's the first cartoon with synch sound, and even THAT is ( Read more... )

I'm just stunned that they were able to replicate The Lion King that closely (that, and the Elephant Graveyard was one of the better-designed areas, in terms of gameplay). As for the overall story, I did feel it was strong, but the weaknesses in it this time around were heavily tied in to the characterization; in many ways, Ansem and Malifecent made the first game for me. Roxas, et al. were all interesting, but the main villains didn't do much for me.

As for Mickey/Minnie/Pete, with the first two I knew right away that something was wrong, but the Wikipedia article on Mickey that I linked to set me straight about Pete (I don't believe I've ever seen Gaucho, and thought that Willie had been Pete's first appearance).

On a similar note, I was thinking about diving into the whole Dippy Dawg grey area in regards to Goofy's debut film, but thought better of it ;P
