Ugh, sorry about whatever's gone wrong on the job front. Rant away! What are your thoughts on yaoi Firefly?

Not sure if these are really hugely unpopular, but ( ... )

I'm sorry about the job fail (ugh) but Wire In The Blood? That was one of my first fannish loves (I used to own far too many of the books) and the show in which I fell for Hermione Norris.

We MUST have a chat about that. I fell into it because I picked up Fever in the Bone, and was all "hey, carla_scribbles, are they that freaking adorable in the show?" and her short answer was "in a different way, you need to watch".

Hermione Norris is SO fantastic. She really impresses me in WITB. And gah, how freaking talented is Robson Green?

I LOVE YOU, TONY HILL.

(have you read the books?)

TOOOOONY. HE'S ALMOST A REAL BOY.

(I picked up "Fever in the Bone", the latest one, first. I've got holds at the library for "The Mermaids Singing" and "The Last Temptation".)

I love Fever in the Bone but it's stronger as part of the series. Tony makes such an amazing journey from Mermaids through that one, and it's just so lovely.

The show is great too, though they are fucking adorable in a whole different kind of way. Hermione Norris is so fantastic though, and Carol Jordan is one of my favorite characters I've ever come across.

Have you ever thought to job hunt outside of Philly?
And give me three unpopular fannish opinions about Supernatural, I know you want to:)

(I can't go too far outside of Philly since I don't drive and it would need to be convenient to public transportation. I know, I know, I need my license ( ... )

I really hope you find a great one soon, man!

And Burn Notice! Or Pro Wrestling, either/or!

Totally doing both. First you get Burn Notice:

1) I hated Victor and loved Carla. I cannot fathom why Michael/Victor is such a pairing beyond the fact that it's Jeffrey Donovan and Michael Shanks. The character went two episodes beyond what he should have, and pulled focus from what had the potential to be an amazing Michael/Carla showdown. Tricia Helfer kicked ass in that role, and she was such an excellent villain (not that this is a shock, considering BSG).

2) I loved Maddie even back in the pilot, when she was shrill and hypochondriac and nagging. I love her even more now. I love her because she's got a problematic past as an enabler for child abuse, and because she's fiercely protective of her kids at the same time. I love her because she's snarky and funny and wears fabulous glasses. I love her because of the time she helped Sam blow up her house with Christmas tree lights and because she still won't let him forget it. I love her because she's rooting for Fiona, but I think deep down, wants to see both of them happy. And ( ... )

*rolls around in your Victor hate, purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs*

... ahem.

I do admit that I kinda liked him in the end there, mostly because I feel like Shanks actually tried to act, and JDo was like AMAZING, which, you know, is always a mitigating factor. I think I hate the reaction to him more than the character himself, you know? I'm pretty removed from BN fandom, but even still, I'd come across people hating on Carla and loving on Victor, and oh gee, I wonder WHY.

You know, I actually agree with you on the last point. I do feel like Michael and Fi are MFEO, but they're at the wrong time in their lives to be together, again. It wasn't the right time when Michael was undercover as somebody else, and it isn't quite the right time now either. There's definitely too much fundamental differences right now.

I'm not a Stargate fan, so I don't have the previous Shanks-attachment. As a guest star, he was decent, but I didn't care for his sudden face turn. And yeah, it's really clear that certain parts of fandom are really misogynist - look at the reaction to Jesse and Fiona, who are basically the same character.

Yeah, the undercover thing is also an issue. I think they've finally gotten past it - how much must it have fucked her up to know she'd fallen for an operative? - but now the problem is that they're still not being honest with each other. I think they love each other, but there are more reasons for them not to be together at the moment.
