Hi! I'm a friend of Dan's and he alerted me to your issue. I am usually 'by the seat of my pants' kinda sewer but I think I know what to do. I would sew the liner together as if it was the robe. So- sew the robe, sew the liner. Take the liner and put it against the robe right sides together and sew along the perimeter leaving the bottom open. Turn right side out, push the sleeves through and finish the bottom edge. I would probably leave it open and hem it. Does that make sense?
That's pretty much what I would do too (sew each part separately). I would probably fold over the edges of the robe sleeves and stitch them down though, and do the neck piece (depending on pattern) in the robe fabric instead of the liner for both sides. I'd also turn the robe edges in front over the lining and stitch those down too.
...but that's for fussy finished look. If it's about easy and comfy I'd just go with the above suggestion.
