Because I Haven't Posted In A While...

School is kicking my ass. Per usual.

Random question about fandom...is it normal to be over the show, but not over the fandom? I think I'm over LuRe in their show form. I have no desire to watch them or relive them on youtube or with videos I've downloaded. But I still read the fics religiously (you know, when school isn't, again, kicking my ass). I ( Read more... )

Hey!

Tough classes or just time-consuming? Hang in there! :)

I think the fiction versions of Luke and Reid have surpassed the show versions of Luke and Reid for me. Does that make sense? Is that normal?
It makes sense, especially given that we didn't get a lot with LuRe on the show and I do believe fanfic has done so much to give us everything we wanted for these guys. I still adore the originals (the show, I mean) but some brilliant writers in the fandom have given us better stories.

What type of phone are you looking into, exactly? I was never a phone person but then I got the iPhone and I LOVE it, so that's my suggestion :)

I like this theme but there are so many to choose from. I remember spending about an entire day looking for my current theme. So yeah, you might have to look through them all. ;)

Time-consuming. Now, I will admit that part of it is me procrastinating(:D), but still. Mostly time-consuming. Speaking of, when I do get some free time the first thing I'm going to do is read your BB fic. I have it bookmarked and every time I open Firefox it screams "Read me now!"

I think that's my problem re: Like/Reid. I kind of hated the story on the show. At least looking back on it. And some of the epic fics we've gotten has made the show somewhat irrelevant for me. It's weird.

Just a smart phone. I have this pathetic little slider still and I need to update. I'm not a big phone person either.

Thanks re: theme. I don't know, I feel like I should love it but...I just like it. It'll do until I find something I might like better.

I totally hear ya re: school. I'm only taking 8 credits and it's still kicking my ass.

I think that's normal. I still read fic, but I stopped reading it religiously around April. We're lucky have so many talented writers in our fandom and they've created so many amazing and entertaining versions of the characters that it doesn't seem unusual to be kind of "over" the original medium.

I've only seen the first half of Merlin season one. There was something that was supposed to happen between Gwen and Morgana??? That's awesome. :D

Yay, Occupy Charleston! \o/ Were you able to participate at all?

I'm bad about exercise, too, and I haven't done really done anything since my big hike in July. /o\

I just got a new phone a few weeks ago. It's a Samsung Gravity Text, and it's way more advanced than my old phone, but it's definitely not a smart phone. I just wasn't ready. ;)

I guess I'm letting school pile all up on me. Like, I have a paper due tomorrow. Haven't started it yet. I should know better by now. But still taking up the majority of my time.

Well, Morgana has become a full blown witch and Gwen is with Arthur now. And Uther just died so Arthur's king. I'm just pissed that with the first three episodes we've seen them maybe 10 minutes. Total. They get these little thrown in scenes and it's frustrating for me since, while I love Arthur and Merlin, I'm not a Merthur shipper and originally got into the show because of the girls. It's especially frustrating since the last episode had quite a few Gwen/Arthur moments and they were all cut. Which, yeah, just pissed me off. It sucks shipping pairings that isn't the most popular. (Arthur/Gwen; Gwen/Morgana)

Nah, I didn't go to Occupy Charleston. I just find it hilarious it took two months for it to come here. Politics aren't my thing, although I do support them.

I'm trying to wait until Christmas for a new phone. Maybe they'll be a little cheaper then?

Ah, procrastination. I'm guilty of it, too. :D

That sucks that there's so little airtime for the girls this season. :( I think Gwen and Morgana would be awesome together.

Yeah, I think waiting is good. I just fear I'd get completely addicted to a smartphone if I got one.

I know I'll be addicted to a smartphone, and that's why I want one. :D Although I fear the bill. Oy.

It's completely normal to be over the show, but not over the fandom! We only got a few months of LuRe, but hundreds of stories and fanvids etc., so it makes sense. :) I'm still just as invested in LuRe as I was last year, but I hardly rewatch their scenes and I read fics every single day ( ... )

Whew. Okay, I feel normal now. So you don't watch the scenes now that they're finally airing on tv for you?

Thank you for those links! I'm going to go through them this weekend if/when I get some time.

No, I do watch the scenes now that they're airing over here, but that's got more to do with me watching the show as a whole in general. But I use to rewatch their scenes on Youtube and watch fanvids etc. and I don't do that anymore.

No problem! I'm personally a big fan of Milou-veronica's layouts, but they're all great and they all have beautiful layouts worth looking into. :)

Good, another in the normal category. I'm pretty good at just narrowing down the authors I like and reading their stuff, and they don't post too often. So yeah, I think I'm in that gray area of getting to be over them. Sad.

I'm sure Occupy Little Rock (is that the closest major city near you?) has happened before Charleston. SC, always last.

I know you love the iphone. I'm actually thinking hard about the iPhone 4s. I just want a smart phone really.

I hope you make it through the funeral. That's it not too painful for you. More hugs to you.

Considering how short the storyline was and that the show has been over for more than a year, I think it is just a testament to the fanfic writers that the fandom is even still around. I definitely think it is normal for interest to start to wane, especially if you are involved in other fandoms or even just watching a lot of other shows. I think I will probably stick around in the fandom until some of my favorite writers decide to stop writing stories, but I am definitely already not as into the characters as I once was. I think it's normal to still love the fandom. I love the clips, but don't seek them out right now. I do watch them if they are posted at a community like Noah Who or Lure AWTW.

I watched the first season of Merlin, but I dislike Gwen. I loved Morgana! Gwen and Arthur just feel wrong to me. I'd like Gwen better if she went with Morgana. I haven't watched the show in ages now...

Gwen is just kind of...there in season 1. They don't build her character all that well (which I guess they can't because she's a maid) but all we get is the nice sweet good girl. And good girls are very much meh. Four seasons and there still isn't all that much of the girls tbh. Boo.

You guys are making me feel normal again. I think I want to still want to watch the clips, I just have no desire.
