Dear livejournal,

How long is it going to take you to fix fucking comment notification emails? How hard can it be to fix an email-related problem in something that had been working near-flawlessly for years? Email is far from the most technically demanding area of internet expertese (unless you're building your own spam filter).

Fuckwits. It's like they've given up

they published an update this morning - it's an upstream issue. They've been blacklisted as spammers. How long does it take to fix that?

Depends on who's running the blacklist. It's normally SORBS, which can take a few days to sort out but it doesn't tend to run to weeks. And in the meantime, it should be entirely possible to arrange to send via another party's IP range/mailservers, which would mean mail could still flow.

Looks like it's Spamhaus this time, blocking them for what is (probably) quite legitimate reason.

I've disabled Spamhaus list blocking on Toybox for now so I can get my notifications while they sort themselves out. Hopefully that won't result in too much extra spam.

Ooh, does that mean I'll actually get a notification of this comment?

if you look at the 'recent public posts' page it's way easy to see how they've ended up on spam blacklists - I'm wondering if an - at least temporary - return to invite codes might be on the cards to try and cut that particular weed off at the roots.

They're probably all checking their facbook status
