I really, really, really enjoyed this. The darkness to it is near exquisite. I'm not so sure I recognize this Sam, exactly, incredibly needy and not what I'd call strong, not like he's been this season, but maybe that's the point. Maybe Sam needs Dean to undo him like this, just like Dean needs Sam to do him back up.

Regardless, the internal glimpses of Hell and what Dean feels, they're beautifully written.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment! In my head Sam was getting off on it, but he was also deliberately orchestrating those parallels with the torture of a soul so that Dean could associate his sense-memories with something different. Earlier drafts of the fic showed that better, but the rest of the mood was lost. It looks from the comments that Sam’s intentions didn’t come through so clearly, but that’s cool too.

Oh, absolutely! =) I certainly _loved_ (to such a degree as to rec your story -smiling-) Dean's guilt here, the way he's just BEGGING internally to make all this stop, to save them both from it, but he needs it so much, he just can't. And, I don't think I've read anything that touches on the darkness of Dean's time in hell, from the vantage point of Dean as torturer. That held me captivated more than the sex, honestly!

Poor Tortured!Dean. *sniff* This was hot, and so what I needed after that ep.

He tugged a fistful of Sam’s sweat-dampened hair to make him look up, even as his hips rocked upward. “Then what are we like?”

“We’re like us,” Sam said simply.

Truth! Simple, perfect.

It definitely called out for a dark slash fic, and there's a dark gen one in the works too. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!

Wow! That was intense. Sam's aborted "I love you." at the end just about killed me.

The line:

He clapped a hand over Sam’s mouth to stop the words he didn’t deserve or want to hear.

was so awful and beautiful at the same time. Poor Dean! Those poor, broken boys!

I know. And the show probably won't make it all better any time soon.

Thanks for commenting--I'm glad you liked it.

None of them were behaving like they should: a hunter turned torturer, a demon who let herself be tortured to protect a fallen angel, an angel who wanted to damn him and another who might have disobeyed orders to save him. Sam was the only one acting according to type because he was the only one of his kind in the world, and they didn’t know what he was.

This is the best description of the Supernatural cast I've ever read. Great fic- I love Dean's flashbacks. It's so nice to see a season four wincest fic that's about love and not hurting each other. Great job!

Thank you! It'll be interesting to see whether the show has them drawing together more or drifting apart after the hiatus.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Love how Sam unwittingly took all of Dean's dark, painful memories and turned them into something he could live with. Beautifully done!

Thank you! It's good to hear that the story didn't come off too dark.
