It's been a while since I read a fic as moving as this. Your Sam is heartbreakingly heroic and so very canon. These lines for example:

“Yeah.” Sam looked down again. “It lacked subtlety.”

and

"I’d tell you to go to hell, but you won’t make it there."

And Dean fighting the demon from the inside, never giving up, it added a lot to the story. I kept hoping for a happy ending (I never read warnings beforehand, so I'm glad you didn't put them in the header) but for a deathfic it was surprisingly easy to accept - so heartbreaking and painful, but not hopeless, esp. with the last line. This almost made me cry, though:

Dad’s waiting and I won’t be long
