Ah, great little punch here.

It would’ve been interesting if the show had gone this direction with the season-two opener. Nice angst in here, for both John and Dean.

Favorite lines:

“Concussion, cerebral edema, broken ribs, internal bleeding, punctured lung,” Sam recited, staring somewhere off into the distance. “At least his heart’s okay,” he added after another pause, with weird, bitter laugh.

Yeah, that was kind of ironic, wasn’t it?

“It was saying that to hurt him. I’m not your favorite.” Sam shrugged indifferently. There was nothing of the petulant or sullen teenager left in his voice; that was somehow chilling. “I’m not what you wanted. Never was.

Oh, Sam. *hugs him*

“We have one bullet left,” Sam choked out. “This time, whatever it takes.”

In that moment of numb shock, before the shattering pain struck, John nodded. “Whatever it takes,” he agreed.

I really like this, their determination to take the demon out. I would have liked to see this kind of united front onscreen. :)

Oh my. Wonderfully written but so sad. John trying and failing to understand what Sam's telling him was perfectly in character IMHO. And the ending! Very nicely done, but I'm glad this isn't what happened ;)

I'm doing a Devil's Trap fic rec at spn_epific and I'd like to include this there.
