Thank you--it's very kind of you all to comment. I know that the parallel to the real "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Next" would be, well, inexact, but I kept it in there in honor of Dean's strange fondness for Jack Nicholson.

This is a very intriguing idea, and the demon plays its hand very skillfully, whether it's a bluff or not, as I suspect. *g*

I would love to see more in this universe, just to know how this plays out! OTOH, yes, I do know that the open ending is part of the point, so...
