Go Vote Young Man...

Jul 20, 2008 23:09

Coming off the back of what has been a horrible week (work, car issues including a big chunk of rubble hitting me on I66) today made me stop. I received my voter registration card. Brand new (hey, I've only been an American for 23 days) and it made me glow inside. Now... I know who will get my senate vote, but for President?...

Thanks! In theory I could vote in both countries, but since I hail from a constituency in England that hasn't been anything but Tory since the 19th century (they could as Blackadder said; put a hatstand up and it'd get in) I don't think I need bother...

You are even considering voting for McCain?!?!?

Umm, no, I'm not biased at all. ;-)

That's the problem, I'm not and couldn't do so - he's moved so far right on so many issues that he's no longer a viable option. I'm now faced with the only real option being to vote for Sen. Obama and he's too far from the centre too!

PLEASE tell me you're thinking of voting for some third party candidate, and not mccain?

I'm thinking of not voting on the Presidential vote and instead just voting for Mark Warner for Senate. I like Obama a lot, he's just my type of guy socially - pro-choice particularly, but fiscally, not so much...

I'm one of those awful moderates I'm afraid *grin*

Yay on the voter registration card, Ack on the rubble hitting you.

I can understand your dilemma on the presidential question. I'm voting for Obama, but it is a case of I at least agree with much of what he says rather than virtually nothing of what McCain says.

It is tough. I really like Obama. His message of change instead of business as usual is appealing, and the endorsement of the guy I'd have voted for (Bill Richardson) carries a lot of weight (particularly since Richardson burned a lot of bridges with the Clinton camp by doing so).
I'm torn. If I do vote for a Presidential candidate it'll be Obama, but at the moment I'm leaning toward 'none of the above'.

BTW That is a great icon of you too!
