Edit: ...and I think I'll turn off LoudTwitter again now. I thought it'd annoy people when they were still sending tweets to phones, because anyone on twitter would see the same messages at least twice. When they stopped sending to phones it seemed like a much better idea. But ( Read more... )

It absolutely makes a difference how contentful the posts are. I don't think you can solve that problem on your own though.

I don't mind reading something twice if it's interesting, but because the general signal-to-noise ratio of LoudTwitter posts is so low, I've switched it off with CSS. Which is a shame, since it means I might miss the 1% of it that's actually interesting, but that's just not high enough a hit rate.

(Talking about LoudTwitter posts in the aggregate here, not yours in particular!)

LoudTwitter allows you to put a prefix (and suffix) before the stuff it transcribes to LJ.

Ahah. The instructions are at: http://mouser.livejournal.com/379686.html

So, if you wish, you can restrict the twitterings to a specific friends group (lj-security: twit). Or even just to yourself (in case you want to collect the to form the basis of a full LJ entry). And, as described, you can hide them behind a cut.

So, while I'm quite happy to read your twits directly off the website you might want them shipped across for your own benefit.

Incidentally, Vodafone are currently providing free text-to-twitter service. They're also doing a free twitter-to-text service, which, allegedly, isn't limited time. (Of course, that's until they change their minds!)

I only have a small handful of twitterers feeding to livejournal, and I like them, seeing as I'm not on twitter myself.

"What's that? Not on twitter?!"
Yes, I know.

I don't read LoudTwitter posts, as I don't really want stream-of-consciousness from my friends - I prefer longer and more thoughtful updates. It may just be me though...

Ditto. I wouldn't go so far as "hate like poison" but definitely "eye skates over without reading".

I stopped following you on Twitter because I was reading it all here anyway. Personally I'd prefer you not use LoudTwitter, and to stick with a system rather than switching it up depending on what you're up to. But that's purely what I'd like. But that's what you asked for.
