I do agree with you... that word gets misused a lot (I blame B-horror movies.) A lot of people don't get the crushing physical/mental impact of that kind of deep fear. So they take a small fear and attach that word to it.
Well... some people just can. They have different ways of dealing with their fears. Or they don't get it cause they haven't felt it... hard to make someone understand how awful it feels.
That's true. I guess I'd do the same thing. I've wished horrible things upon people before.
When I tell people and they know I'm serious... they treat me completely different. It's horrible. I don't want to be treated differently, I just want them to be aware.
But you're cool with it, Shinji. You don't treat me like a retard...
Phobia = Irrational Fear, if you can rationalise it then it's not a Phobia. More people need to understand this.
I'm sorry you have a phobia of something that seems to be everywhere.
There are two fears I have that I sometimes call phobia's because when I have to deal with them I'm useless. I even walked out of a cinema Twice because of one of my fears.
But other times I'm not as bad so I'm not a 100% sure if they are phobias.
But my former friend who claimed she had a phobia of snakes, she didn't she had a learned fear of snakes. But whenever I tried to help her with it she just whined.
Taking a step back today, I feel kinda dumb getting so upset but thank you for understanding.
I've been working with this fear for some time, and even though I've made progress, I still get weird episodes where I'm unable to control how paranoid I get. It's not everywhere... yet it is. I've learned it's at work more than I'd like it to be. Grin and bare it is pretty much all I can do if I can't run away... and people ask me why I'm so bitter...
I dealt with people saying they had a phobia of snakes... they still walked into a pet store, past the snakes, spoke about them.... whined. lmao
Aww. *pets* It's a good thing that usually when something's upset me I can't get to the computer because you'd have six page rants every week if I could -_-;
It's good that you're working on it. My mother has a phobia of spiders and after she had my brother, and then me too, she tried so hard not to show it so we wouldn't learn that fear off her. She's still terrified of them sadly but unless it's an exceptionally large one she doesn't freak out to bad.
I've dealt with someone else who has a real phobia of snakes and the difference is SO clear to see. I can't even talk about my three around them, I don't even try.
