ok i just skipped all your spoilers , because i haven't got my copy of issue 3 yet, but i just wanted to say i totally agree with your pov on people who have all these cannon issues, can't they just respect that it joss' story and be grateful that we even have the comics at all ?! if they don't like it can't they just leave it alone lol. btw it's cool to know that there are other people on lj actually reading the comics :) peace.
If Xander is the kisser, it explains that one panel of him looking kind of awkward before Buffy wakes up. I think Buffy will always be the girl that Xander loves but can't have. He's loved her since season one but she always falling for non-normal guys. Your idea of Xander flirting with Renee because he has a chance with her make sense.
I find it interesting that it was Giles talking with the demon. Is it because he's the last Watcher and the demons respect that? But then Giles said he's not a Watcher anymore, so how does that work?
It would make total sense for Xander to be the kisser, especially with the reaction panels. But then why won't Joss show it? It makes me think he's playing with us. Although it could just be that he doesn't want the kiss to be a big deal and to take attention away from the other stuff that's going on.
I think it's enough that Giles is representing the new organization of Slayers for the demon to give him respect. The demons would basically have to do business with them or be exterminated, right?
I'm thinking Ethan is out for himself rather than being a double-agent. Of course being out for himself could include being a double-agent for a time... what I'm saying is that his loyalties are ultimately with himself only.
Don't have much else to say since we already talked about all this.
Oh, and I totally agree with you about the canon issue.

Ethan worked out well. I'd just like to know how he got there.
