What to do?

I have two options for what I could do today

1) Stay home, recover from my cough, work on overdue papers

OR

2) Go to DL's place for a Risk/Diplomacy party.

Right now, option #2 is winning.

The quality of discussion on the Buffyworld forums has seriously plummeted. Where have all the smart people gone? There's this stupid topic about whether or not

Me...I ALWAYS vote for the party. The papers are already overdue, what is one more day, honestly? You might as well go out, have some fun, blow off some steam. So yes, party gets my vote.

As to the forum thing, I totally agree with you there. The whole reason I didn't participate in this fandom sooner was because of the forums at The Bronze when Buffy first started. And when I finally did start getting into the fandom, several years later, I left a forum because of the overwelming stupid that was in every corner.

There are still smart people around but I found they have long since stopped posting on forums. I find most of them on AIM or speciality kind of niche boards. The broader boards...yeah...the stupid is kind of astounding.

From what I've experienced in the past few months it would appear that all the smart people are on lj.

It's frustrating, though, 'cause you know there are people who read message boards to gauge fans' reactions, and you know it's going to be all "eww B/X, he's like her brother!" and "I miss Spppiiikkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" And it's just... *facepalm*
