Y'know, I didn't think I'd get invited to leave, not when this is my second time here already! Heh, it's like they can't enough of me anyway, why would they wanna get rid of me now? Everything about this just doesn't add up.

You came here once before? Do you remember anything from the first time?

...I don't know what to think about all this.

Yeah, I've been here before, but I don't remember the first time. ... Heh, and the first time? I've been told by people who remembered me before that the Malnosso turned me into a human being!

... I know I don't like it, that's for sure. There's too many things wrong with what they're proposing.

...that's...you mean for the duration of an experiment, or longer?

There has to be more to this than what there seems, but...I need to see what my housemates think.

For the whole time I was here last time. 'Don't know how they did it though, but I'm a hedgehog, that's who I am! Unless they got me from some other world where I'm human, but I don't think so.

I gotta wonder what's behind it, if it's not just the experiment too. Do you think your housemates are gonna buy it?

Same here, I know what you mean. I don't want to lose those memories either. I don't trust 'em to send us home cuz who knows, they might end up droppin' us off somewhere worse.

Has anythin' like this ever happened before?

[His ears flicked. Floating island sounds so familiar.]

Whoa, then what happened? Did anyone try to escape then?

Do the math, radian. You're missing part of the vector.

It's not for the superior to inform the ignorant.

Oh, c'mon, types like you are always just dying to inform the rest of us what you think.

It doesn't sit right with me. I doubt leaving is going to be as easy as the letter makes it sound.

Yeah, I hear ya on that. Nothing about this place makes anything easy. Even if everyone who does try it ends up goin' home for real, we'd be here, and we wouldn't know if they made it.

You got any theories on what all this is about too, or what might happen?

I can't say I know for sure but something tells me it's not going to be good.

'Got that right. There's no way I'm gonna try it, not when the timing is just oh so conveniently close to experiment time.

I doubt it's real, but even if it was I would not go through. I have to remain here to make sure the Malnosso are stopped. Otherwise, more people will become trapped here.

Of course, if someone capable of space travel wants to take a star chart with them, they may be able to find this place from the other side.

Huh, thinkin' the gate's not even gonna show up? I hadn't thought of that, that's a good point. But I know what you mean, I gotta stick around too and make sure everyone who wants to go home can get home first. I'm hearin' a lot of people not wanting to go through at all though.

[His ears flicked.] You got a star chart on you?

I think the Malnosso are behind this. If they wanted to do something to us, they'd simply do it. There's no need to lure us into a gate. In other words, these letters are the experiment. I doubt the gate will appear.

I think I could make a star chart in a few nights, as long as it's clear.

It's about time for an experiment anyway this time of month. If they really wanted more action out of us, heh, if there's a gate for real, they'd tell us the gate would show up tomorrow, not almost a week from now.

Really? That'd be awesome! You did that kinda stuff back at your home too?
