What's a beach bum without a Jeep?

Jun 27, 2010 00:49

Today I took the Jeep down to Wabasis ("Wasabi") Lake.  It didn't take me long to find the park entrance and the beach from there.  Parked, hiked, and settled myself down on a blanket in the sun.  I'd slathered my whole upper body in sunscreen before I left the house, but I didn't bother to do my legs, because they never burn ( Read more... )

Hi there!
future reference: spraying down a sunburn with distilled white vinegar will take the burn out... it will sting like a b***h when first applied, but then the 'burning' uncomfortable part is taken down to what it feels like about 3 days after a burn (in under 30 minutes! waahoo!) - do this in the shower stall so you're not getting vinegar everywhere. We're so fair-skinned that we keep a dollar-store spray bottle filled with vinegar in the house (we use it for mirror & window cleaning too - again sprayer bottle works wonders ;->)

the peach-pineapple sorbet sounds delicious!! share the recipe?

It's pretty easy. I made a little bit more than this recipe makes since I had extra peaches, but I just upped the quantities accordingly

3 peaches, peeled and diced
1 1/2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 cup diced pineapple
1/2 cup simple syrup

Directions
1. Combine the peaches and orange juice in a food processor; puree until smooth. Add the pineapple; puree again until smooth. Pour the simple syrup into the peach mixture; blend to combine.
2. Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions OR freeze slowly, stirring the mixture every half hour or so
