Hmm... I can't actually remember the last horror novel I read that had a decent plot. xD Although I did find a novel called Lost Girls, and I thought it was a very good- very vivid and complex- muder mystery (astonishingly good, actually- the cover is a bit misleading). I rec'd some other books in my journal several entries back as well if you're at all interested. :)
It's kinda like Harry Potter in the sense it's full of goblins and elves but it's about a teenage boy who's a genius and he's discovered the elf world and is now trying to take over it, or something. Haven't read it since I was 12 and I didn't really understand it then, but it's good! I may have to re-read it.
Not scary, but for a recent find Bimbos of the Death Sun packs a lot in its pages. Scifi writer is murdered at a convention- half mystery, half way too bloody hilarious poke at fandom. My God, I am so glad I found this XD
