Yesterday I travelled to the exotic town of Girouxville to visit a local apiary and watch honey extraction. The whole process involved a lot of machinery and reminded me of those, "This is where your food comes from" sections that used to be on Sesame Street ( Read more... )

I blogged about this, though it's only tangentially related to what you wrote about. (Mostly about my experiences on an apiaryAs for the 50 year history... I hear you. It's weird, though: here in Korea, everyone *talks* about a 5000 year old history (which, according to their oft-repeated legends, is really more like 4300 years and even that's a bit of a stretch for modern people to claim for their modern nation which, for most of its history was different smaller kindgoms slaughtering one anothers' armies) but for all that, it's painfully difficult to find anything that dated back further than the war. Almost everything is a reconstruction, since almost everything was destroyed in the early 50s. It's very weird ( ... )
