i think the general sentiment is right. the "their/their" construct is probably just for parallel-ness. Plus, people say "his wife" or "her husband" (the singular of "their") and that's not taken to mean ownership...or is it? ;)
all told, i'd rather see a dude wearing this shirt than one with a confederate flag or some shit.
